4 Ways To Make Your New Year's Resolutions Count

“If you only focus on results, you’ll never see change, but if you focus on change, you’ll always see results.”

Happy New Year!

Just wanted to take a moment to share with you a few insights on what getting and STAYING fit can mean to your overall happiness and success in 2010.

That’s because what we teach here at Evolution Fitness is just as much about training your character, as it is your body.

Your mind is the most important muscle you must train if you want to reach your fitness goals.

The reality is MOST people will start the year with the best of intentions, but very quickly revert to old habits, and yet another year will pass without you experiencing the change in your life which you so badly want.

That is unless you implement these 4 critical “mental habits”, which will help you stick to your new year’s fitness resolutions this year:

1. Commitment. It’s not enough to want it, committing to it is something else entirely. Commitment means you make a decision to do whatever it’s gonna take to achieve your desired outcome. When you decide not to let anything stop you, guess what – you become unstoppable!

2. Priority. You know how, when going through the security measures on a plane, they tell you to put your mask on first before helping anyone else? In the same way, you’re no good to the people you care about if you can’t take care of yourself! YOU are the most important person in your life, and
nothing is more important than your health. Give your fitness program the priority it deserves, and everything else will fall into place.

3. Delayed gratification. This reminds me of one of my favorite lines from The Simpsons, when Mo gets a huge deep fryer for the bar that can “flash-fry a buffalo in forty seconds.” To which Homer replies “Forty seconds? But I want it now!!” It’s funny because as a society that’s kinda what we’re like! But when it comes fat loss, there is no quick fix, and anything that seems to work extremely well in the short-term, backfires in the long run. Anything that is worth having (like a lean, energetic body you can be proud of!) is worth putting in the time. Starting too fast, and not thinking about sustainable habits will be the #1 mistake that kills most new year’s resolutions this year.

4. Pain tolerance. “Comfort makes cowards of us all.” If you want results, you have to get outside your comfort zone. Although you must leave room in your plan to cheat, and nurture that playful side of yourself (we’re human, we gotta live!) there will be discipline involved. If you’re thinking you don’t have much of that, don’t worry, once you learn to harness the power of habit, it’s gets easier.

You must be able to master these if you want to see real, lasting change in 2010.

I bet if you were to reflect on any great success in your life, you’d recognize it came as the result of your showing some combination of these four elements.

And that’s what our “4-Week Transformation” Boot Camp is all about.

It’s about you becoming the change, and doing things differently because you want a different outcome.

It’s about personal breakthroughs…

Because, by the end of four weeks not only will you be doing things you never imagined you could do, but you’ll think differently, have a new found confidence.
